HOW IS THE JEWELRY MADE?
FALLON produces in multiple factories using only AAA cubic zirconia stones in non alloy metals like brass, stainless steel or sterling. We don't use nickel, cadmium or lead. Our founder is highly allergic to anything but fine jewelry or the pieces we make, so if she cannot wear it, we don't sell it. Made in factories that also produce fine jewelry, by artisans that know what a luxury finished piece should look like and wear, you can mix with any luxury pieces with confidence.
WHY 18K AND NOT 14K?
After being in the luxury market and fashion industry for many years we have learned that clients want to mix their gold with the highest end brands such as Cartier, Bvlgari and Van Cleef and Arpels. We strive to stay away from gold tones that are too yellow and seek a look that can be mixed with fine jewelry in clients wardrobes. 18k is the best option.
HOW DO I KNOW MY JEWELRY WILL LAST?
FALLON has worked for over 15 years perfecting its manufacturing processes to offer the best quality materials that last the test of time, function for daily use, and offer a 1 year guarantee on all pieces. If the reason for damage is our fault, we will let you pick something else out, or offer a store code credit for future use.
We have begun incorporating a PVD vacuum plating process to our best sellers. This adds a plating that uses less microns but is diamond hard and impenetrable and adds years to piece of jewelry as it adds a scratch, fade and tarnish free quality to the pieces. Vacuum plating is an atomic process that also eliminates toxic chemical dip plating and prevents the potential of runoff into the environment. This is a slow building as a practice, because vacuum plating requires specific stones and materials to be used to be effective. It requires the hardest stones and cannot be used with softer metals and porous stones. Our AAA CZ is perfect for this process. Vacuum plating on stainless steel or brass (with a layer of chrome added first) is the only way you can believe a "waterproof" guarantee.
On pieces that cannot be vacuum plated, we use the standard electroplating process. For gold we use 2.5 microns of 18k gold. On "silver" pieces we use 1.5 microns of rhodium plating as rhodium is part of the platinum family, has a great tone, and doesn't tarnish like sterling. If a brand tells you they plate in anything over 1.5 microns of rhodium, you run the risk of chipping as rhodium gets brittle over this level.
THE MICRON DEBATE:
When purchasing jewelry with microns in mind you have to ask yourself if extreme durability (PVD) or if the amount of gold is important to you (electroplating). There is a misperception that pieces thick in microns are more valuable, but the truth is refiners will reject any plated pieces for meltdown. Even if they agreed to extract the gold, the value is near zero. Whether you are purchasing PVD or electroplated from us you can be certain the pieces will last. If you are someone that wears their jewelry everyday and doesn't remove when showering, then PVD is your choice.
Our electroplated styles incorporate 2.5 microns of gold, which is the highest industry recommended standard.
Our vacuum plated styles use the highest level based on the intricacy of the style, but PVD uses less gold with a diamond hard application process..
It is our recommendation when buying any fashion jewelry you expect to last years, you look for 2.5 microns electroplated over brass, sterling or stainless or you select vacuum plated over brass or stainless for 10x the durability. You can find our PVD STYLES on our "FINISH" menu.
